New single – Why Does the Road

My new single Why Does the Road is now available on all major streaming services.

“Why Does the Road,” Dadio’s latest release, is an Adagietto number that follows in the wake of previous efforts by harkening back to the 70s singer-songwriter trend. The song embodies the decade’s fondness for lyrical sincerity and emotional balladry, featuring a vocal delivered over lushly melodic piano lines and a half-time backbeat that comfortably propels the track forward, but never gets in the way.

Carefully arranged strings are interlaced into the work and the production is impeccable, an approach that produces a piece that sonically could live side-by-side with works by bands like Steely Dan or the Eagles. The icing on the cake may be song’s  coda, a string ensemble soliloquy that serves as a thematic reprise punctuating a song that asks the question, “Why does the road need to be so long?” without actually giving the answer. Rather, it invites introspection and listeners must decide for themselves.
